How we sell. What we won't.

Our sister publisher publishes its Code of Conduct. We do the same, in operator voice. If we're going to sell tradies on visibility infrastructure, we should be visible about how we sell it.

The things we won't do

The list, before the pitch.

    Sell leads.

    Per-lead, pay-per-click, exclusive postcode, capped enquiries. Not a single one. The research on /why is on the record about what that does to a trade.

  2. 02

    Promise more leads.

    We sell visibility infrastructure, not pipeline padding. If a tradie's already getting calls and losing them at the quote, more calls just bigger the loss.

  3. 03

    Run a coaching program.

    The receipt is on /why. We saw what $750/mo subscriptions and $10K buzzwords did to operators. We won't add another.

  4. 04

    Gate the research.

    The Tradie Issues is ungated. The book lands in your inbox if you ask for it; the PDFs are downloadable without an email if you don't.

  5. 05

    Cross-pay with the sister publisher.

    Need A Trade is editorially independent. No tradie pays to be featured there. No money moves between the two sites. The shared parent is the only link.

  6. 06

    Use stock-photo tradies, fake before-and-afters, or posed handshakes.

    Antony's portrait is on the home page because it has to be a real face. The on-the-job photography is a coming-real-photos pass, not a stock-library buy.

  7. 07

    Say “guarantee.”

    We say “commitment.” Two different words. One is the law, one is what we'll actually carry.

    Run popups, exit-intent overlays, or email walls on the front of the site.

    If we have to ambush you for an email, the offer didn't earn it.

    Sell a dashboard.

    Vanity-metric dashboards don't change a tradie's day. The 8-video stack does.

How this is written

Where the words come from.

  • Site copy is grounded in The Tradie Issues (Edition 6.2) — more than 2,400 distinct operator accounts across 40 trades. Read the full paper at /why.
  • Voice rules are operator-direct. No em-dashes. No "guarantee." No SaaS dashboard talk. Two-orange-words maximum per line.
  • Numbers are real. The 30% to 79% close-rate stat is the field-observed lift from the "They Ask, You Answer" method (Marcus Sheridan) that the 8-video trust stack is built on. The /cost prices are real AUD, inc GST.
  • Brand names in quotes are redacted ("[a major lead-gen platform]") where naming them would be defamatory; the operator's words otherwise stay verbatim.
  • If we change a rule on this page, we'll log it at the bottom.
